Focusing on what feels right to you is perfect. That's what we should all do and not be twisted into someone that we aren't. Kudos for recognizing where you were in amongst the thoughts. Bernie
I struggle with being away from home too (for different reasons) and I too am working out what I can and can’t do in my own way in my own time in regards to travel. Kudos to you Denyse 💜
Hi Denyse, travel is stressful and often people don't realise this until they're in the middle of it all. I completely understand your decision and applaud you for not trying to talk yourself into it. You are such a sensible person and the teacher in you comes out well, with your planning and testing things out beforehand. I can understand it's disappointing but I'm so pleased you've made your decision and eventully you'll come to terms with it I'm sure. Take care and thanks for sharing your post for #WBOYC. x
Hi Denyse, gosh you mentioned so many places - Chatswood, Wynard etc that reminded me of growing up in Sydney. I loved your photo of the Opera House lit up in all it's splendour. Sometimes, life has a way of telling us what is good for us and what isn't and you have done the research and found that perhaps travelling to the UK might just be too much of a stretch. There are so many places in and around Sydney to explore and you won't be stressing out being in a foreign place on your own. Enjoying your adventures, my grandsons love catching the bus with me in school holidays. Thanks for sharing your thoughts with us at #WBOYC? and wishing you a wonderful June. Keep exploring yourself and your surrounds. xx
Aw, that is a bummer but at least you know now and it was definitely worth looking into just to have that decision made and to let go of that wondering.
I’m sure your realisation was very disappointing for you but I’m pleased that you sound comfortable with your decision. I would never have thought to do a practice run as you did, but once again your self awareness amazes me.
Basically the only real reason to travel (if not for family or work) is for pleasure - and if it isn’t bringing you pleasure, that far outweighs the exorbitant costs involved, then it is wise not to do it. (I bet you weren’t expecting that from me ;) There are plenty of other things to see and do here - closer to home (Do able day trips). I think it’s wise to know your body’s limitations & there are def things that individually make the things we love much harder (after a night of hard dancing I’ve had to get more supportive shoes this morning in an attempt to stave off what I suspect will be complications which will eventually put brakes on my physicality.) Good for you on testing it out rather than getting stuck OS when you’d rather be here. #WBOYC
Hi Denyse, I think it takes courage to recognize your limitations, and to admit that something isn't going to work for you. I think we can get too caught up in everyone else's story and forget that ours might be different. We're not travelling far from home atm - I don't enjoy long flights and airports, so I'm putting long distance on my "one day/maybe" list, but admitting that it's not for me right now. Your trial run was a great idea and showed you what you needed to know. Lucky you live in such a lovely place with plenty to keep you occupied.

It’s hard to have to constantly test limits and be reminded of the why behind it all when something doesn’t pan out 💜

As disappointing as I'm sure this must be, it's a decision you've chosen to make for all the right reasons. That takes courage in itself. x
