It’s 22nd June here in Australia.
One of the shortest days of the year, and for many who LOVE the light and warmer weather, we are back to slowly getting to that over time.
TIME.
I so needed many lessons over the course of the past 10 years to appreciate the value of TIME in my life.
THE OCEAN.
Living closer to the sea than I had ever been since I was a teenager, the Pacific Ocean of the Central Coast was a haven of hope, healing and awe.
MY NEEDS.
So much change in me was needed for me to be able to manage, as well as I could, the sadness of time away from family and the familiar, and a diagnosis of a rare oral cancer as well as being a person who MISSED connections in person…and the Covid Pandemic did not help. Blogging and social media were of great assistance then.
MEMORIES.
Winter really was an awesome time to visit Lakes Beach at Budgewoi because of the tidal changes, and the rocks and shells which would lie on the sand for some days. Once I knew this was happening, I was in the car, and away for some great experiences to share and to soak in for me.

WONDERful sights and feelings.
HEALING is slow and steady and cannot be rushed. It happens, as does each ocean wave, in its own time.
DAD’s LEGACY.
Whilst my father and I had clashed at times, over the last 7 years of his life, he had mellowed and I had realised it was time for me to learn more from him about my heritage. I did know quite a bit, and I asked him once for some advice. It was to keep on beach walking as he found that VERY therapeutic in his years of retirement and being a carer to Mum for 2+ years. Sadly, his beach walk years became memories for the last 5 or so years of his life. So, he enjoyed me sharing my stories.
FEELING the FEELS is OK!
Today I needed to share this…and I hope by doing so it also helps my readers understand the big changes in life for me recently, and that they too may feel it IS OK to share.
We stay connected that way!
Hope your weekend is going well.
Denyse.
I don't get to walk on the beach anywhere near as often as I'd like but even just seeing your photos of the waves and the smooth stones in all their pretty muted colors relaxes me. I too find that rhythm of the waves so calming. In just 9 more days my younger boys and I will be near the ocean again and I can not wait.
The sea has healing powers! And to me, a quiet lake too. My personal trainer and I talked about this in the gym yesterday. How he finds inspiration by looking at the ocean especially when it's a bit upset with crashing waves. I find that soothing, like I mentioned in another comment to you, just sitting on a beach or rock watching the waves, but also the stillness of a calm lake in the forest. Both bring healing and peace of mind.
