I like to think I am mindful walker. There was a time when I was into hiking because we have so many trails around Los Angeles. Aside from the health benefits, I enjoyed learning how close I was to nature even in such a large city.

This was great Denyse. I think I do both. There are times I will walk faster, and times when I prefer to just take it slow and take it all in. Thank you for sharing this. Loved your photos.

I agree that we need to listen to what our bodies are telling us. Sometimes I don't like it, but I find that it's best to listen.

I tend to mix slow and fast walking, I've always enjoyed walking and now when I had to give up running, walking has replaced it and longer distances will be the added challenge. Faster speed makes it more of a workout but it's not that important to me, I just want to enjoy walking, working up the distances (I'm planning a 19k hike in September) and getting out in nature. I mostly take the time and brain space to enjoy the beauty around me and I always walk with the camera to hopefully capture some of it. it looks like you have some nice walking areas around you!

It’s interesting that you posted about this Denyse. I’ve always been a fast walker in urban areas but a slow walker when bushwalking and have always loved the pace it gives for thought. Now that I have a knee injury I’m always a slow walker and have noticed how much I’m loving not rushing to the end of a walk. Perhaps it’s something to do with turning 70

Denyse, How wonderful that you have easy access to nature and green space close to home. I'm a mindful walker when I go on my nature walks. I tune in to what I see, hear and feel. Nature is amazing and when we pay attention, there are many sights and sounds to discover. Thank you for your weekend coffee share. Have a great week ahead!

I am very much a mindful walker and notice all sorts of things. I do take my phone from a safety sake -- if a coyote attacks or if I turn my ankle in a badger hole sort of reason - and I do take pictures. But I also stop to smell the roses or touch the crocuses or lay on the ground and inhale the smell of prairie grass. I love my walks and even without a dog I would still go. Bernie

UGH -- snakes. We only have garter snakes and no need to worry about them.

Definitely! I love taking nature photos; not that there aren't time where I walk without noticing but for the most part I do try to be mindful when we're walking.
