Just an fyi, the link in #WWWHimsy doesn't work -I just get an error. I have to come and find your substack - in case the pop ins form the link up are down. For me it's a substack thing becahse Jennifer's link is the same.

Anyway, I had no idea you were this talented! Those drawings are really good! (Not flattering you!) I'd only seen the mandelas and those bookmarks you sent. You should feature more of these. They're really lovely! And lovely tribute to your friend. She lives in you every time you paint.

Thank you! That was lovely to read. The thing about substack is that you have to 'join up' with an email address and then it's up to you if you go further with say a publication. It is helpful though to sign up. I am loving it as a platform for my writing now.

And yes art like this and other media are keeping me in a state of creativity which is helping me heal.

Warm wishes

Hi Denyse, I agree with you kindness matters and nothing is permanent. You are an artist and I've enjoyed seeing your art, mandalas and photos over the years. I remember the Women of Courage series, too. It's good catching up with you. I hope you and B have a great week.

Hi, Denyse - "Nothing is permanent and everything changes" is a very hard lesson indeed. But the unconditional love that we have for others, and the memories of special kindnesses can last forever and this always gives me hope. <3

Oh my goodness, Denyse you truly are an artist. Your work is very creative and so detailed. I remember your Women of Courage series as well so many strong women sharing their stories. So lovely to see you at Mins' #WWWhimsy as well. Hope you are feeling better. Take care, Sue L xx

Thanks Sue, that is very caring and kind.

Learning some techniques via Tracey's on-line class was so helpful.

I haven't done much painting like that for a long time because I have made other creative pattern making and mandalas a priority.

I did one of a Poppy around ANZAC Day and wrote On Flanders Field (a poem from WW1) on it, and my Dad had it in a frame in his Unit for the last 7 years he lived there.

It was good to be back linking up today and staying connecting. It's a sign of improved health too, that I am doing this.

Thanks for your warm wishes.

Denyse. x

Hi Denyse - I think Tracey left a legacy of kindness and beauty and you can't ask for more than that can you? To be remembered years later for the good she did and the encouragement she gave is really special.

Art is so subjective, so I don't think anyone has the right to say whether it's good or bad - it just "is" - and it has such a profound affect on our hearts and minds. Keep creating my friend. x

Thank you Leanne. I was inspired to write about this because I found some of my art I had made into bookmarks and was also remembering how much Tracey's guidance meant.

I know that I enjoyed those processes and learning back then.

I did enjoy making those paintings. A local Sydney friend was so taken with one of my pansy ones she asked for it as it reminded her of her grandparents' garden. 8 years on she tells me it is still in her study.

Art is what you said...and everyone IS an artist in their own way. Yay for that.

Warm wishes for my fellow creative across the country!

Hi Denyse, it's so nice of you to remember and write about Tracey. She was incredibly kind and very, very talented. I did meet her and talked to her for quite a while at her 'Still Blue & White' art exhibition at Wild Canary, Brookfield. We had planned to meet up again for coffee as she lived local to me, but for various reasons beyond our control that never eventuated. Moving on to your art that you shared here - I love them! I can't actually pick a favourite as all three are so good! Tracey would've been such a wonderful mentor and I know she'd have been very encouraging. I must admit that I still struggle to call myself an artist! I'll get there! I have to agree with you that nothing is permanent and everything changes eventually. Recent times for me have proved that. It's been really lovely having you link up again with us at #WWWhimsy Denyse. Take care! xo
