Welcome to Denyse Whelan Writes Here:
Life…it gets away from us.
Way back in May 2023 when I was first living in Sydney I needed some help emotionally to feel more settled and my GP’s advice was to ensure I got outside each day, to let to sun fall on my face, and walk in or near nature. No chatting to anyone, and definitely no counting of steps.
It was about being more MINDFUL and staying present in that MOMENT.
It worked and I continued the practice for over a year until recently.
I have no idea why I stopped other than I was most likely getting those walks when I drove to places of nature.
One reason I LOVED getting back into it on Saturday is to capture some of the Spring into Summer blooms in the neighbourhood.
Here’s what I saw (and smelled)
PINKS and PURPLES anyone?

And then this:
and time for good ole agapanthus…
And my favourite tree on this part of the walk….the Crepe Myrtle
As I approached our street, I had to stop and take a distant image of the streetscape which includes the garden B (and at times our grandson) has nurtured and the NEWLY laid turf for a summer of green grass.
Soon we will be ‘making some Christmas spirit’ here too!
For now, this red and white combo seen on my walk can suffice!

Sunday is the day of getting the front a bit Christmassy. That will be another post.
Meanwhile, I am was back in my walking routine and then it got too hot and rained.
I WILL be back!!
Do you have a routine walk too?
Denyse.
Send my condolences to the host of WWWhimsy Min, whose dear Mum has died after a very long illness….

Thank you Ladies.

That’s a great little suburban walk you have there. So much to look at - many don’t really see what’s under their noses do they. Orange Gazania is gorgeous when it blooms - so bright and vibrant - lifting their faces to the sun. Our aggies are in bud as well so I’m expecting an explosion of blue very soon
Lovely images Denyse. Having a routine can be good for us but shouldn't rule us! I like that you're getting out and about and enjoying being in nature. I like walking but am still having trouble with my knee at times so am taking it easy. Love the idea of your getting festive out on the nature strip!
Thanks for your kind words too, especially for Min's loss. It's always great to see your posts for #WWWhimsy.
