This is my contribution to the What’s Been On My Calendar Link Up for the end of September 2024. Details of the link up and those who kindly host are at the end of this post.
On My Way To Local P.O. In August.
Busy for lots of reasons…that includes what is in my hand: Our Postal Votes, Letters Signed by Me as part of my Co-executor Role with my Brother to be Posted by Express Mail, oh…and a DNA test to Ancestry!
There are quite a few things that help me get through tough times and I have written about some before. I think I have shared about my art being ‘on the go’ with a special set up at the left of where I am typing this into my i Mac.

I’ve spent time sharing my practices of daily meditation, reflection and writing about gratitude too.
This time it’s about the value of listening to a book from Audible collection.
Making choices and choosing to ‘be’ and ‘do’ mindfully has been hard in a year filled with big emotional challenges around life, death and grief, so I acknowledge this here as my update.
To know more about the words and world of Elizabeth Strout I found her short podcast interview on Audible very good. I understand I am a ‘late starter’ to her work but am very glad to be enjoying it now.
Almost at the end too as I listen to “Tell Me Everything”!
I admit to this:
I have to LOVE the narrator of any audiobook and Kimberly Farr does so well in each of these books
I also speed up the listening rate from default of 1.0 to 1.3 for these books.
It does not spoil the story for me.
Here’s the series…I eventually read them in order despite starting not in order.

I understand this could have been part of another link up …”What’s Been On My Bookshelf” too but here it pertains to…
And what about these similarities in surnames…my favourite writers this year so far are Clover Stroud (from U.K.) and Elizabeth Strout (from U.S.A)

Take care everyone.

Thanks for joining us with your post Denyse, as always it's an enjoyable and interesting read! I always speed up audible books to about 1.2-1.5 depending on the narrator. I've read a few Strout books but not enjoyed them terribly much - everyone is different aren't they?
HI Denyse, I've read a few of the Elizabeth Strout books and enjoyed them. I agree a narrator makes or breaks an audio book. I remember listening to Little Women and could not finish it because of the narrator's voice. Thanks for sharing #WBOYC? and have a lovely October. We have a State election in October so will be voting early.
