How I Start My Day…and Have For the Last 5+ Years.
This is a photo of me….not just out of bed…ha! Ready to meet a friend for coffee last Friday.
Each morning before I get out of bed, I use the Calm app for a daily meditation practice. Once I learned that it matters NOT one jot, where anyone meditates, this is the best way for me.
Following the Daily Calm, I use the tools of reflection with a question and quote from that day’s meditation. This can be incredibly helpful, and often, as they say, “just what I needed to read”.
I sometimes add a copy of my reflection to my Day One Journal - an on-line, private and subscriber use way of record keeping and thoughts sharing…with myself. I often add photos of the day there too.
I have found looking back to see “how far I have come” is very encouraging to me.
Before I move on, you may not have (yet) seen or read my pretty raw account of grief I wrote last Thursday. It’s here.
Now, back to Daily Calm’s Images and Reflections:
If an image “really means something to me” I’ve been adding it to quick notes on my phone with some words that are a message back to me!
So, these are examples of how I can help myself get through tougher times and days that just “are” like that!
Contented with what IS
Not with what I cannot or don't have/am
THAT is my life & what matters most!
Why envy others?
A very unhelpful thing to do
What a woman I am!
Remember all I've been through
And what I love about MY life right now!
Over and over and over again
Love this
Learned this (& still learning) a long time ago
I get to (not I’ve got to)
I can give it a go (not I cannot)
I want to (not I have too)
It may happen (not that will never happen)
Remember
S l o w i n g. M e. D o w n.
If you see one or more that might help you, I am pleased.
How do you motivate yourself when it’s a bit harder?
If you are interested in a link to 30 Days Free From Calm (I am not affiliated and this gets no sponsorship, I just share) I may be able to send you a link from the app. Let me know in the comments!
Take care,
Denyse.
Here I am joining with Min and friends for here Wednesday’s Words and Whimsy today.
And for the time it’s needed I’ve become a member of #TeamWWWhimsy to ensure the commenting is shared and conversations continue.
Some beautiful quotes and thoughts here which I totally align with.
Hi Denyse, Thank you for sharing some lovely quotes. It's great that you've figured out what works for you and practices it. I do daily meditation and practice gratitude when I wake up and before bed. I also stay active in various ways, mostly in nature. #TeamWWWhimsy
