I’m going to see how short videos work here on Substack.
These are all from my iphone and I try to keep them under 20 seconds.
I’m putting information before the video is shared.
PLACES I LOVE and LOVED from the last 2 years.
This one was taken at Lakes Beach Budgewoi on our final visit for a beach walk before moving back to Sydney. Lakes Beach walks gave me a lot of time for mindfulness 2016-2022.
And here is Soldiers Beach Norah Head. Again a long time favourite for viewing, walking and once a proper surf. This was such a beautiful place for me to be more distracted during healing times from surgeries, and to have a place to walk during Covid times.
After we returned to the Hills district of Sydney in February 2023 and I made a short video of a walk around our local neighbourhood. Rouse Hill was a planned development (begun around 2010) of different types of housing, parklands and generous walking paths. We live in a small 3 bedroom house which is perfect at our time of life. We hope to stay on as long term tenants. Our place is not in this video.
I recently enjoyed visiting my favourite beach …the long beach at Manly that consists of South Steyne (Manly) North Steyne (the middle beach & my hangout as a teen) and Queenscliff or Queensie at the northern end.
This video was in Summer on the walk to Shelley Beach & Fairy Bower looking back to the beach.
This one in Winter. Almost the same place.
I never take it for granted that I lived in a beautiful part of the world, the Northern Beaches aged 10 to 20. Of course I visited frequently on holidays and later living in Sydney. My parents often took visitors to Sydney to North Head, to see the vista of the ocean, the harbour and more.
Recently there has been an upgrade to the whole area making the place safer and more accessible. The video gives a little perspective to the area and you can see South Head opposite and the city beyond.
My parents’ house was near Dobroyd, Tania Park, and this is a photo of me with North Head in the background.
And for the final little video..something from me, to Dad, at Manly. His beloved Manly Beach. At some stage, we are hoping to add his ashes here in the water when the weather warms up. FYI: no permission needed, but to let the local council know as a courtesy. Oh, and avoid a crowded day and be aware of the wind. We will.
I walked near a seat where I remembered taking a photo of him 11 years ago. I paused to take this and made the little video above.
That’s what I enjoyed seeing and sharing.
I hope you did too.
Denyse.
Here I am joining with Min and friends for here Wednesday’s Words and Whimsy today.
And for the time it’s needed I’ve become a member of #TeamWWWhimsy to ensure the commenting is shared and conversations continue.
I've been curious how videos work here, also. They all embed nicely. Such beautiful spots, thank you for sharing.
A lovely area Denyse and your videos worked a treat! A great way to show more than just a photo. #TeamWWWhimsy
