Gratitude is my go-to for showing my appreciation for life and in life.
I was a gratitude sceptic for some time and this post shares more on that.
It’s Christmas Eve evening here in my part of Australia. There has been quite a lot of ever-changing weather patterns, including major storms today. We are fine. And as far as things go now tomorrow we will be driving to our daughter’s house…around 5 minutes away to join our family for Christmas Lunch.
About My Gratitude Walk.
After our tea it was still very light and any rain had stopped. I needed to get out of the house and walk. I have missed my walks in nature when I was recovering from Covid.
But there was another purpose today.
I was feeling quite overwhelmed. In a good way.
So much has happened to us, and to me in particular who is the feeling queen in our duo….and I need to process what has been a big time of adjustment and change since this time last year.
A walk would help, and noticing this physical world around me where we have called ‘home’ since February 2023.
As I took each step (very mindful walk!) and noticed what was around me that has become familiar and part of my world now, I felt more at ease.
I could find words of gratitude for so much.
Here’s my list!
We were able to rent this house that suits us so well on first application in February 2023
The smallish house and so good for us, is located in a lovely part of Rouse Hill and is close to family, friends and all facilities we need
Over the course of almost a year, the house has become ‘home’ and we always hoped….
The owners would approve of our stay for another year…
Last week we got the awesome Christmas gift that they are…
And, they so love having us as tenants they have put the rent up less than recommended by the property’s agents
So, it feels very good to be as settled as we can be at our age and stage in life.
Tomorrow we join our family: kids and grandkids for lunch. Hosted by our daughter.
No need to have a LONG drive to and from…we are almost neighbours.
So, my walk concluded with me wishing a neighbour Merry Christmas and writing to share here.
I feel safe walking around here, I can walk on designated pedestrian paths and the whole neighbourhood was established for the neighbourly ambience. We are near Windsor Road and the Metro but barely hear traffic noise. The skies look like they might bring more rain.

And with that, may I wish you, my readers, the best of the festive season 2023 however you mark it.
Warm wishes,
Denyse.
That sounds and looks wonderful! Wishing you and your family a very Merry Christmas.
