Lovely beach pics Denyse - I seem to have lost my love of beaches as I've gotten older - I like them on a mild, sunny day - but not in the winter wind and rain, and not in the searing summer heat. Give me a little shade and shelter and a beach view and I'm happy.
It's all very individual this 'beach in winter' thing. B "detests wind and cold" so...I get that. I miss the action and the senses that are so strong for me at the beach. My health has been such that travel across Sydney to 'get to a beach' has been governed by my IBS.
Now, as I feel more confident about things, I am PLANNING to drive over there this week.
There are also some memories around my visits to Dad, and after his death in Feb 2024, I've not been to some of my old and familiar places. Time to see how I go. Thanks Leanne for visiting and sharing.
We came to Sydney (and Melbourne/Brisbane) in 1986 as Rob had a couple of weeks work to do there and I remember loving Shelley Beach. We're about 3 hours from a beach being right in the centre of England, but go to our favourite place, Wells Next The Sea regularly. Covid was such a strange and difficult time, but we moved on board NB Grace in June 2021, so that was an exciting time for us 🩶
Being in a wave-painting mode, I really love the spray image and as always, I love Sydney's tidal swimming pools. Wish someone here had the same vision - it'd be heaven.
This morning's walk found miniscule fan-shells and a small hermit crab inb his shell. I delivered him back to the water, as I don't like the glint in seagulls' eyes.
Love that...I have tried half heartedly to 'create the surf and waves' so I 'doffs me hat' to you! I LOVED writing and drawing in the sand when I walked taking pics of course, and I adored the beaches where a LOT of small rocks and shells would arrive in the angry surf of winter on the central coast.
I miss the ocean like an ache but my health has kept me close to home. I am hoping to get over to the beaches soon.
I know many who love those ocean and harbour tidal pools in Sydney.
Author Kylie Ladd is one such person and last Summer made it a mission to swim in all of them when on hols from Melbs!
