Welcome to Denyse Whelan Writes Here.
Today is a quintessential Autumn day in Australia. I now live in the north western part of Sydney called “The Hills”. It is often much warmer in Summer, and colder in Winter than the area in my photo above…close to the Harbour and on the Coast.
However, the Autumnal cool of this morning gave way to a sunny and very pleasant early April day. I am feeling quite well today…not overdoing things though…and so I made the relatively short drive out to Windsor about 20 minutes away.
I wanted to view a part of the Dyarrubin (Hawkesbury River) from Macquarie Park on the western side of the river where I had been last year on a couple of occasions before the work started to improve the area. It was a place which I associate with my father’s illness just before he died, as I received news there that I found hard to take in.
Nevertheless I am someone who, when ready, can face my memories which challenge me and today returned. And it was with renewed confidence and appreciation for feeling better.
Here’s what I noted and enjoyed!
I was so grateful to be there…and to find that I enjoyed the experience of independence again after some weeks where my emotional exhaustion and an added virus kept me home.
And I am finally able to appreciate the beauty and modernity of my lovely NEW car!
That’s my take on Autumnal April!
What’s the weather (and season!) like where you are?
Take care,
Denyse x
P.S. It’s this Sunday in Australia where places who have daylight saving get to turn the clocks back ONE hour.
That looks lovely! Spring is trying so hard to arrive up here but winter just does not want to give up its hold yet. We've had cold rainy weather- but at least it's not snow!
Hi Denyse - you're looking bright and chirpy and relaxed in the sunshine - so you must be well on your way to finding your balance again. And I do love the colour of your new car! x
